abdominal therapy for womb and fertility support

Nurturing the Womb and Hormonal Balance

Abdominal massage can be deeply supportive for the reproductive system — helping to improve circulation to the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic area, while easing congestion and promoting hormonal balance.

It can benefit those experiencing:

  • Painful, heavy, or irregular periods

  • Endometriosis or pelvic pain

  • Fertility and preconception support

  • Hormonal imbalance or perimenopausal changes

  • Postnatal recovery

  • Pelvic congestion

  • Prolapse

  • Scar tissue or adhesions

This work can gently help the uterus come back into its natural alignment, creating more space and freedom within the pelvis. When the womb is well aligned and circulation flows freely, it can ease menstrual discomfort and support the body’s natural fertility.

Increased blood flow through the womb and ovaries helps to nourish the endometrium — the uterine lining — supporting a healthy environment for conception. And because the massage also calms the nervous system, reducing stress hormones, it naturally supports healthy ovulation and hormonal rhythm.

During treatments, I often apply a castor oil pack over the lower abdomen. This traditional practice is not only deeply soothing as the gentle warmth helps to soften tissues, but also ricinoleic acid (the main enzyme in castor oil) has been shown to reduce inflammation and stimulate circulation. It is particularly supportive for womb work, helping to relieve congestion, nourish the reproductive organs, and encourage healthy blood flow to the uterus and ovaries.

This therapy can also help ease pelvic pain or tension by improving circulation, releasing tightness in the muscles and fascia of the lower abdomen, and calming the nerves that feed into the pelvis.

Healing this part of the body is often a journey. Most women benefit from a series of treatments, allowing the body time to unwind long-held patterns and restore balance gradually.

I will also teach you how to support your healing at home — including self-abdominal massage, castor oil packs, yoni steaming, and, if appropriate, using a faja (a traditional wrap that supports alignment and containment through the pelvis).

When needed, I’ll also guide you in easy ways to support your lymphatic flow. The lymph system is key to clearing inflammation and waste from the tissues. When it flows freely, swelling and tenderness can ease, and your body’s natural repair processes strengthen.

This treatment is one of the few therapies that works directly with the pelvis, sacrum, and lower abdomen — areas that hold much of the body’s tension, yet are often untouched in traditional massage. By including these regions, the treatment supports the full network of circulation, nerves, ligaments and fascia that influence and reproductive wellbeing.

“The uterus is a woman’s centre. If her uterus is out of balance, so is she.”

The Abdominal Ecosystem

How the belly and womb work together to keep your body in harmony

The digestive and reproductive systems share close physical and energetic space within the lower abdomen. When one becomes tense, inflamed, or sluggish, it can affect circulation and lymph flow to the other.

The liver, which sits just above the stomach and right under the ribs, also plays a vital role in this balance. It helps to process and clear hormones, especially oestrogen, and filters toxins from the blood.
When the liver becomes congested or overworked — from stress, medication, or a sluggish digestive system — it can affect both hormonal rhythm and digestion.
Abdominal massage helps to stimulate circulation through the liver area, supporting detoxification and the healthy metabolism of hormones. This can be especially helpful for those experiencing oestrogen dominance, PMS, or hormonal imbalance.

Stress, for example, can disrupt both gut function and hormonal balance, while a congested digestive system can contribute to pelvic tension and inflammation.
By bringing relaxation to the body, restoring flow and alignment, abdominal massage supports both systems — helping the belly and the womb to relax into softness and balance once again.

“When one system finds balance, the other begins to follow.”
